Depression is a serious condition
I’m on vacation, but still feel tired and sad. I cry out to God to explain why I have s
o many physical challenges, and people will not take me the way I am.
Sometimes I wish I could hibernate and not leave my house. People can be so cruel at times. I long to be in my father’s arms where I know He holds me secure in His love. He doesn’t judge my physical appearance. After all, He created me.
Depression is a serious condition. Winter months escalate the symptoms of seasonal affect disorder (SAD) with short, dark, gloomy, cold days. Depression is severe despondency. It is a state of feeling sad, a mood disorder marked by sadness. It affects how you feel, think, behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. Depression is apparent in my life through explosive outbursts with family members that lead to leads to no thought of emotionally hurting someone else as well as myself. Dr. Rudy Kachmann believes we need a wellness balance that brings a physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual harmony in our lives. Balance is the key component to health and wellness. Dr. Kachmann believes we need to like people and join the human enterprise. We are to get in the habit of saying happy things. We should always plan to become active in either volunteering, planning meals, doing something different each day. Don’t let irritating things get your goat. We should have a healthy diet of nutrient dense foods daily to avoid taking all the other supplements companies try to sell us. Dr. Ruden, of Philadelphia, has spent many years of research on the relationship between omega-3 fatty acid deficiency and mental illness. “One major health problem in this country is the epidemic of nervous, mental, emotional, learning and behavioral disorders, including crime, drug problems, and alcoholism. Are these problems related to commercial food processing and omega-3 fatty acid deficiency? Dr. Donald Rudin provides substantial documentation that back up this data. Omega-3 oils are generally more highly unsaturated than omega-6. They are taken out of foods.
Fatty acids provide lipids which make up the myelin sheaths of the brain and nervous system. They make up the cell membranes for all cells of the body, and they provide a source for synthesis of vital prostaglandins. The prostaglandins are hormone-like substances which regulate many cellular, hormonal, and neurotransmission functions of the body. They are beneficial and is thought to be necessary for mental function of the immune system.
Visualizations will change physical problems and disease. I use a lot of guided imageries in my yoga classes to balance and support peoples energy centers which enhances the healing process and balances the immune system. They are also helpful in managing pain. I use these on myself as I take my morning walks. Eating green smoothies each day also improve my clarity of thought. Dr. Kachmann said in his lecture on the mind and cancer that there are personality traits that keep us well: hardiness, commitment, control, challenge, and coherence.
Omega-3 is absent in most foods. There is research that taking omega 3’s daily reduces the risk of Parkinson’s and other degenerative diseases.
I will follow up with a guided imagery in the next blog:-)
